It’s funny how the strange animals Rasmus Sivertsen and I created for NRK’s Children’s-TV in 2002 have taken on lives of their own. They were just meant to be strange mutated creatures in the original 10 sec animated intro. The intro ran every day for six years! My good friend and colleague Stig Saxegaard did a great touch-up on the designs in 2008, and the characters reappeared in the intro which replaced the original. By then, the characters had their own magazines, books, CDs, websites. Now they’re appearing as muppets in their own TV-shows. NRK bought the whole concept from day one, so It’s totally out of my control. But although I would have liked to have some royalties here, I must say it’s quite cool to have been giving birth to such a successful concept. Here you can see what they originally looked like.

Our graphic novel-project is slowly moving forward. Bjarte has done a fantastic job on the first draft, and about 35 pages have been sketched out. But we’re still working on the script, so don’t start looking for it on Amazon just yet…
Norsk polarhistorie/Norwegian Polar History

I’ve been doing multiplane illustrations for thie documentary series about Norsk Polarhistorie. The illustrations fill out the holes and strengthen the story where photos or film were missing or didn’t do the job. Fun and fascinating project directed by Håvard Jenssen and produced by Videomaker. Some of the stories are unbelieveable. It’s amazing how some of our forefathers managed to explore, conquer and actually make a living in the polar regions. Norsk polarhistorie premiered on NRK April, and will be out on DVD in the fall.
